SUSAN WEXLER APN, CPNP
Susan joins the team of Advanced Pediatric Care with an impressive portfolio of education and professional nursing experience. She earned her Bachelor’s in Nursing at the Northern Illinois University. She initially worked as a Medical- Surgical Staff Nurse at the Irwin Army Hospital in Kansas, but found her calling as a Pediatric Nurse. In 1982, she finished the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Certificate Program from Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center. She then worked as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner until 1985 in the Darnall Army Community Hospital in Texas, focusing on seeing babies and children up to 12 years old for checkups, immunizations and treatment of minor illnesses. Concurrently, she was also a Red Cross Volunteer. She then decided to take a personal leave for a few years to spend time with her children. Even while on leave, she still participated with the local Illinois Nurses Association group. She contributed her time and effort in putting together the group’s newsletter. During that time, she was also determined to keep current with nursing journals and her professional certification. From 1989 until 2009, she went back to professional practice, holding dual positions as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and a Pediatric Office Nurse at the Stratford Pediatrics in Bloomingdale, Illinois. She also worked briefly for the private practice of Dr. Geeti Ghosh in Elgin, Illinois in 2009. Even with an expanded job description, she still found time to pursue her Masteral studies in Nursing, graduating from the University of Illinois, Chicago in 1999. From 2006 – 2008, she was part of the adjunct faculty at the same university.
